Gui Trotti

Gui Trotti is an internationally recognized architect and industrial designer. As president of Trotti & Associates, Inc. his work covers a wide range of fields, from designs for the habitation module on the International Space Station, to the South Pole Station, to innovative designs for Space suits to explore the moon and Mars. He has extensive design and research experience designing buildings, environments and equipment for people living in extreme environments. As founder and president of two architecture and industrial design firms in Houston and Boston he has been responsible for managing the design and construction of hospitality, residential, entertainment, educational exhibits, and other sustainable architectural projects.

Mr. Trotti is a co-founder, of the Sasakawa International Center for Space Architecture (SICSA) at the University of Houston where he acted as the associate director, and taught graduate and undergraduate courses in design, and human factors. He has conducted research and design activities in extreme environments habitats, advanced modular structures and construction methods in Space, space mission architectures, and human machine interphase. His SICSA team won the NSF/AIA National Competition for a new South Pole Station, utilizing many parallels and lessons learned from the design of Lunar and Mars missions. He has also taught Industrial Design at the Rohde Island School of Design (RISD) where in 1993 he started the “Space Studio” presently funded by NASA; he also directed design studios at RISD, and the Studio Art Collage International (SACI) in Florence, Italy in collaboration with the MIT Age Lab developing ideas and products to support the aging population. Mr. Trotti has been affiliated with the MIT Age Lab since the early 1990’s.

Mr. Trotti is a co-founder and Chairman of the Board of EarthDNA, a nonprofit organization seeking to inform, transform, and accelerate sustainable actions, from individuals, leaders at every level of society such as governments, businesses, and consumers through the use of machine learning, and artificial intelligence.

Currently, he is Professor of Practice, at the Design School of the Arizona State University.
