Ufuoma OVIENMHADA

Ufuoma Ovienmhada is a graduate student with the Space Enabled research group of the MIT Media Lab. At Space Enabled, Ufuoma researches how to design and evaluate Earth Observation to support equitable environmental ecosystems in West Africa. At present, she is engaged in a project pertaining to invasive species management in the Republic of Benin.

Prior to joining Space Enabled, Ufuoma worked in the IRIS lab for Sustainable design, and at Public Lab, a nonprofit that develops community science tools for environmental exploration. Ufuoma hold a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University.

“Sometimes it can be challenging to convince academics of the value of non-experts in creating knowledge. I am encouraged by the IAF’s interest in this topic and am thrilled to have the opportunity to contribute to this dialogue at the IAC with my work from the West African context.”
