Budapest University of Technology and Economics

The Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) is a prestigious higher education institution in Hungary. Its main mission is to educate professionals for the industry, to perform scientific research, which encompasses fundamental and applied research, technological product and service development, and exploitation of results making up the innovation chain. For decades, various research groups have been performing space research related activities, from basic research to technology development through the actual implementation of diverse devices and services, as well as various forms of education and trainings. Our staff members contributed to many space missions and space services in various fields. BME is an active participant of the Hungarian space sector. The first Hungarian satellite, the Masat-1 was developed at the university in 2012. The world's first operational picosatellite, the SMOG-P has been developed at the university in 2019. Since 2022, the university offers a space engineering master program as well as a space technology expert postgraduate program.
