The Aerospace Engineering department of the University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt (FHWN) is the only university in Austria where students can study Aerospace Engineering and obtain their Master degree. Equipped with modern laboratories and experienced staff, the students can focus on a range of subjects including satellite technology, propulsion systems for space applications, numerical methods and advanced manufacturing technologies such as additive layer manufacturing (aka 3D printing). Aside from the curriculum, the students can participate in various activities such as the university’s own nanosatellite program and the aircraft design group.

Through the FHWN owned R&D company, FOTEC, the students have the possibility to participate in real world projects for industry or for the European Space Agency. FOTEC features top notch R&D facilities including the largest vacuum chamber in Austria and the most advanced additive layer manufacturing equipment. This allows students to already gain experience with such technology during their education.
