The Georgia Institute of Technology, commonly referred to as Georgia Tech, is a public research university and institute of technology in Atlanta, Georgia. Georgia Tech's undergraduate and graduate programs are divided into six colleges. Collaboration among the colleges is frequent, as mandated by a number of interdisciplinary degree programs and research centers. As of fall 2019, the student body consists of more than 36,000 undergraduate and graduate students, with graduate students making up 56% of the student body. Of the around 20,000 graduate students enrolled in 2019, about 60% were enrolled in online graduate degree programs. Georgia Tech is classified among "R1: Doctoral Universities – Very high research activity". Much of this research is funded by large corporations or governmental organizations. The Center for Space Technology And Research is a group of more than 80 faculty and full-time employees who collectively perform over $100 million of aggregated space-related research and development at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
