Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) has been the gateway to advanced science and technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship as the first and top science and technology university in the Republic of Korea. KAIST educates, researches, and takes the lead in innovations to serve the happiness and prosperity of humanity. KAIST fosters talents who exhibit creativity, embrace challenges, and possess caring minds in creating knowledge and translating it into transformative innovation.
KAIST also established Satellite Technology Research Center(SaTReC) with an interest in space technology. SaTReC had taken charge of the development and operation of small satellites and had consistently led the acquisition of satellite technology, securing independent R&D capabilities, upgrading satellite technology, and space science research since 1989. Furthermore, they contributed to the industrialization of satellite technology, developing it as an exporter of satellite technology in the Republic of Korea and greatly contributing to enhancing the nation's status. SaTReC has launched 9 satellites such as KITSAT-1, 2, 3, STSAT-1, 2A, 2B, 2C, 3, and NEXTSat-1, and plans to launch NEXTSat-2 and 11 constellation satellites within 2025. KAIST keeps making an effort to collaborate with laboratories in KAIST related to the propulsion system, navigation, constellation satellite, robotics, space physics, and so on for future space missions.
