Spade

Spade is a product, interior and strategy design agency specialised in space living conditions. Together with astronauts and engineers, we research, design and manufacture products that will provide comfort - and a sense of home - to the next generation of space travellers.

We believe that the constraints of a space habitat call for a fundamental disruption in the way we design objects: the forms we use on Earth are mostly irrelevant in space, as microgravity upsets the principles of usability. We also believe that great ergonomics, smooth user experiences and comfortable environments will allow to bring more of our human culture in space, and will encourage diversity in the future space crews. Space has been a place where men and women survived for the past 80 years, and sometimes in the most austere ways. Today, with the emergence of non-professional astronauts and the expected long journeys to the Moon and Mars, the need for interior design and architecture in Space is manifest.
